The very last group that our industry can take for granted were taken totally for granted.
Readers were treated as collateral damage and that's wrong.
I don't have any suggestions when it comes to the pricing ebook mess, I don't even completely understand all the fine points in the argument, but I do hope that going forward we don't hurt and damage the one relationship that is critical for our survival.
It's all about the readers. We have to nurture them, nourish them, come up with new and exciting ways of enticing them to keep reading. If we loose readers then it doesn't matter what publishers want to get paid or what stores want to charge.
If you're looking for write ups of the Amazon/Macmillan weekend storm Publisher's Lunch did a great job and deserves mega kudos.
