Here- #3 says:
Use the public library to check out movies or books for free.
Now we need you blog, tweet, facebook, myspace, shout, write, yell - do what ever you can to promote books as cheap gifts, inexpensive getaways, entertainment that for the money can't be beat. 20 hours for $24, $16 or $7 dollars is still a huge bargain - compare it to a movie either at the theater or rented.
Sure save money - but books can and do replace way mroe expensive options.
We need to keep books in the public consciousness - not erase them.

MJ is right. Please, everyone, remember how we heeded President Bush's call to go shopping after the tragedy of 9/11. Use your credit cards to buy books and tell others to do the same.
The "paradox of thrift" will surely destroy our economy. The more books you buy instead of borrow (or steal, in the case of some young novelists), the better off we all will be. Take it from a bankrupt publisher: just go out and spend the money now.
Otherwise you're kind of a traitor, you know?
