Some writers have sent in Valentine's I'm going to be posting over the next two days.
This one from Ron Page:
If anything, I'm thankful for the times when I can step away from writing and simply look forward
to reading a new novel by a favorite author or discovering someone new that can spin a wonderful story. From that vantage point, the glass is always full. Truth is, I can't imagine it ever half empty.
We're living and writing in a time when the opportunity exists for more people than ever to enjoy what an author produces. Challenges and difficulties? Of course, but those come no matter what. The business side (publishing, marketing, etc...,) is interesting and intriguing as to how things work and what does or doesn't succeed. Anyway, I love reading. Probably not a fair answer, but it sums
things up since that's what it's really all about. If I had to pick a second choice, it would have to be libraries. A wonderful and amazing treasure that provides so much for so many. While their role appears to be undergoing a transformation, they remain a resource for each generation. As a child, I remember the discovery of Sherlock Holmes, The Hardy Boys, Beverly Cleary, Henry Gregor Felsen and George Washington Carver and how amazing his life was and then it was on to Tom Sawyer, Charles Dickens and James Bond and none of them, none of those worlds would have existed for me
without the library. As an adult, I recall picking up The Princess Bride, the hardcover with the red type, at the local library long after I had read the novel in paperback and being delighted at how
different it looked. A nice memory.
So, no big stories, just a lot of small ones that combine to make life more interesting and pleasant.
