Title Test/Cover Test
For the last five years I've been obnoxiously repeating over and over "why don't publishers test titles and covers?" In advertising we tested like crazy and learned that our gut instincts were so often dead wrong.
I'm not for testing the actual "art" -- the writing -- but why not find out what title will resonate better... what cover will communicate faster.
Hat's off to Bantam for testing these covers this week via an ad I saw at Shelf-Awareness.com (Though I wasn't crazy about the covers.)
