RIP Kurt Vonnegut
Mr. Vonnegut was one of the first writers who I ever met and meeting him and talking to him about writing remains a hightlight of my professional life. His work was so important to so many of us. Sincere condonlences to his family. We are a richer culture for his brilliance. The NYT has a three page obit here.
I echo those thoughts MJ.
I saw him once at The Hay Festival, but didn't get to meet him :-

I am very sad to learn of him passing away, but the memories of his words live on.
He enriched all our lives

It’s been said Vonnegut was a miserable man that made people laugh. Vonnegut was more than my hero, he was me.
