In The Pink - Just in TIMES for Valentine's Day

Maureen Dowd has given a lot of chicklit authors a valentine by way of a sales boost.

No, that wasn’t her intention but that’s the result. I've been watching the Amazon and BN.com numbers since the article ran on Saturday and they prove that any press is good press. Even two year old titles she mentions have shown activity.

By now everyone who reads blogs knows that in her column over the weekend,
Dowd discovered (about two years too late)  the pink covered world of chick lit titles that seem to have overrun her favorite bookstore.

Other bloggers - esp GalleyCat -  have done themselves proud pointing out the late timing of the Times noticing Chicklit and misunderstanding how it began and what it begat and Galleycat also has all the links to all the blogs discussing the article.

And over on the Chicklit listserve (which has over 1100 members) the writers are up in arms and writing letters to the Times that you’d better believe won’t be written in pink prose.
